Just a quick note to say I had my second hip replacement at the beginning of April and have been recovering for the last few weeks, hence a silence in posts.
The following is taken from a Power Point presentation.

Background and context:
Working within the conceptual terrains of transhumanism, cyborgism and reconnecting with nature, I employ sculpture, organic material, physical structures and prostheses, processual audio and visual material to immerse an audience within the blurry area between human and machine and our inevitable transcendence and connection with technology and how this will affect our relationship with nature.
My culminating work for my MA will consist of sculpture and (possibly) moving image that has evolved to represent transhumanism, and now embraces my concerns of where transhumanism may lead us, a possible Icarus effect of pursuing transhumanism, where a collapse of humanity is brought about by the very elements that will lead to an initial success, and ultimately that nature will reclaim their lands and to spread the message to reconnect with nature… or is nature going to rewild humanity?
I plan to show an eight foot sculpture that represents a futuristic transhuman and my concerns of a collapse of transhumanism that is reclaimed by nature. t

Thoughts on Installation:
The sculpture (which is finished) will be assembled on site (approx. 1-2 days) and will built off a 1m square steel base that is on a cardboard cushion and can be very slowly moved.
The sculpture will have organic material, mostly Ivy stems, running through its core, like veins, that could trail indefinitely across the floor, around a corner, or disappear through a wall.
Option 1 would be to build a wall/space that the sculpture is around, creating its own space with or without extra plant material, its own spot lights and/or moving images projected onto/through sculpture or onto its own wall. The moving images could be accompanied by sound but not essential.
Option 2 would be to have the sculpture out in the open gallery with or without moving images.

Questions for the gallery:
Will I need to provide a risk assessment for sculpture and assembly using on site step ladders?
