Beginning of the End (last year of MA) New work & CAMP 1 Minute Film Fest 26.9.22

Updated: Oct 9, 2022

Thinking about where I am heading in year 3:

So far my work has developed from mental and physical abilities of the body into thoughts of transhumanism and where we are heading as humans with our relationship with technology. This year I will be carrying on with creating debate about technological ontology but with a twist of encouraging a decortication of an inevitable cyborg story and offering a consoling stimulation of stepping back into the woods, climbing trees and playing with fire.

Over the summer I began work on this years sculpture which required a full body cast of myself, which after wrapping myself in cling-film to avoid plaster sticking to hairs, serendipitously brought about a new film: 'New World Birth (part 1)' which is about a possible future where humans are born into a world as adults. This film was edited into 1 minute and entered into CAST's 1 Minute Film Festival and was shown along with an edited 1 minute version of my 'Transhumanism' film. I went to Exeter Saturday 24th September 2022 to see the showing of all films entered and I believe they will also be shown in Plymouth.... a heads up that the One Minute Film Festival screening is also being planned to be shown at the CAMP BAS (British Art Show) event and exhibition at https://www.vacancyatlas.co.uk/pop-up-shop in Plymouth from 4th November. Look out for further details of this!
